The House of Bellourne · A note from the founder
Why we began.
A letter, rather than a manifesto. It explains what the House is for, how it is run, and what you may expect of anything that carries the name.
London
Bellourne began with a simple frustration: almost everything offered as luxury now arrives quickly, speaks loudly, and is forgotten by the following season.
I wanted the opposite. A house that publishes slowly, makes little, and is willing to wait until a thing is right. Not because slowness is romantic, but because it is the only way I know to end up with something worth keeping.
So the rule here is plain. We only write about what we have actually seen, and we only sell what we would keep ourselves. Where a piece is made, who made it, and what it is made from are written down and shown to you. If we cannot say those things honestly, the piece does not go on the counter.
That comes with consequences, and I would rather state them than hide them. Runs are small and sell out. A release date is an estimate, not a promise. Natural materials vary by harvest and by season, so a composition may be refined before it reaches you, and two pieces are rarely identical. None of that is a flaw in the work; it is the nature of work made by hand, in quantity small enough to care about.
In return, you have my word on the part we control. Every order is confirmed in writing. Every piece is packed by hand and followed by a tracking note the moment it leaves us. If something is wrong, write to the House and a person will answer you, not a form.
Bellourne is for a small number of people who notice these things. If that is you, I am glad you found us, and I hope whatever you take home is still with you in twenty years.
